+ 7 - 1 | § We're Back - A Transatlantic Crossing

After living in Germany for six months and traveling back for a month, we are back in St. Louis.  We got back on Thanksgiving, and we've spent our time since then unpacking, cleaning the house, reading mail, seeing family, and getting back to work.  I miss our trip already.

+ 5 - 3 | § Rijeka and Ljubljana

Yesterday, we went to Rijeka, Croatia for a day trip before continuing on to Ljubljana, Slovakia (a friend of mine doesn't believe that Ljubljana is a real word).

Rijeka is a big port city close to some beautiful coastline, so most tourists just pass through it.  We didn't have time to hit the more remote coasts, so we focused on Rijeka instead.  While it wasn't bad, we definitely want to spend more time exploring the Croatian coast.

Ljubljana is a perfect small European city.

+ 4 - 3 | § Pictures From Poland, Slovakia, Serbia, and Croatia

I have a better Internet connection here in Ljubljana, so I have time to post some pictures to go with my recent posts.  I hope to be able to talk about our visits to Rijeka, Croatia and Ljubljana, Slovenia soon.

We have spent the last few days in Belgrade, Serbia and Zagreb, Croatia.  Although they are both the two largest cities in the former Yugoslavia, the contrast could hardly be greater.

Belgrade is a dirty city unready for general tourism with only a few interesting sites.  Zagreb is a great, modern city ready to take its place with other major tourism cities in Europe - it often feels like Northern Italy (just with a Slavic language).
